Disc Herniations/Back Pain/Sciatica
It is possible to have a herniated disc in any part of your spine, but most herniated discs affect the lower back (lumbar spine). Some happen in the neck (cervical spine) and, more rarely, in the upper back (thoracic spine).  Sciatica is the most common symptom of a herniated disc in the low back. Much of the time a herniated disc has no association with Low Back Pain, but is an incidental finding when MRI is used early in the diagnostic process. There are several studies that confirm this conclusion, including the following study posted in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Traditional treatments for Disc Herniations / Back Pain/ Sciatica include but are not limited to: Surgery, Pain Management, Cortisone or other Injections, Cauterizing  (Burning) of pain producing nerves, NSAIDS, Spinal Decompression, Activity Modification, Ultrasound, Interferential, Strengthening, Stretching, Heat, Ice, Chiropractic Manipulation, etc.

Traditional Treatments for Disc Herniations have proven to be inconsistent, which leads to costly diagnostics and imaging (MRI, X-ray, CT, etc.), and high utilization of multiple forms of treatment options.  Patients are frequently treated for a Disc Herniation when, in reality, it has no association to their pain and symptoms.
